People often ask me how I can be so happy most of the times. Honestly, I think it’s because I have had enough bad days… And I have come to realize that the lack of appreciation for what is present is what leads to those bad days.
I have learned to become appreciative and grateful for the little things – and the joy they bring. In many occasions, I have quoted this particular text as I really believe that the “little” things in life bring the greatest joy. From photographing flowers and swans to recognizing and smiling to strangers on the streets, from observing lovers walking hand-in-hand to acknowledging my heart that beats and the air that I breathe, I have come to see these “little” things and appreciate them. The starry nights, a cloudy day, a phone call or text from a friend just to say that he/she loves me, the food I eat, all the possibilities I have, the fact that I can spend time in solitude.. Ahhh.. I love ALL OF IT! I love the moments of my life – even the ones that aren’t as productive as I’d like. This appreciation and contentment keep me happy. We can all be happy.
Complete Lyrics
Nothin’ like my neighborhood
And of all the fancy satin and silk
My white cotton feels so good
Where I can lay my burdens down
Ain’t nothin’ in the whole wide world
Like the peace that I have found
And the joy they bring
(The little things) It’s the little things
And the joy they bring
That you’re gonna be a little late
Pure as a kiss on a cheek in a word
That everything will be okay
Singin’ to me, “Happy Birthday”
In the quest for fortune and fame
Don’t forget about the simple things
And the joy they bring, yeah
(The little things) It’s the little things
And joy
Give me some piece of mind
Bring me some sunshine, bring me some blue sky
Lost sight of my goal
I do this for the love of music
Not for the glitter and gold
Even a little more
When I ask to learn humility
This is what I was told
And the joy they bring, it’s the little things
(The little things) It’s the little things
Give me some good news, give me some cute shoes
Give me Atlanta, give me Savannah
give me my peace of mind
Give me my daddy, give me my mommy
Pour me some sweet tea, spoonful of honey
I don’t need no Hollywood
